針と糸、そして色が編み出す表現力の可能性を広げるニット・レーベル。LAと日本を拠点とし、2018年に設立。
1インチ(2.54cm)間の針の密度を表す単位「ゲージ」に由来した名前は、

ニットの特性である編地を裏からも見るイメージで「EGUAG」と表記。
風合いたおやかな手編みのハンドニット、複雑な描写を可能にする編機を用いたマシン・ニット、
編目が横に単一に繋がる緯(よこ)編み、
縦方向に連なる経(たて)編みまで、あらゆるニットを最適な技法で日本国内で作製。
6色の糸で再現されるジャカード編みの技術を応用した毎シーズン発表の
「PHOTRICOT」(フォトリコ)シリーズは、写真やイラストをニットで繊細に表現。

今後は様々な文脈のアーティストと協力し、アート作品シリーズとしても展開される。

EGUAG, reading “GAUGE” , visualizes the unique right and wrong sides of a knit fabric.Gauge,
a knitting term measures the number of needles in 1 inch (2.54cm).
Producing various knitwear by using the best technique and approaches,
from the airy crafted hand knitting, complex creation capable machine knitting,
weft knitting produced by a series of horizontal loops,
to warp knitting formed by the loops in a vertical direction.
The “PHOTRICOT” series is one part of the collection, rendering images or illustrations into a knit,
by developing jacquard knitting technique, characterized by six threads.
This series will also invite artists in different contexts, to stitch together an art piece.
